Why this one exists
A generic letter is not your recommender’s fault
They are busy, they manage a lot of people, and they were asked for a favour with no material. That is a solvable problem.
Specifics beat adjectives
"Strong analytical skills" is worth nothing. "Rebuilt the pricing model in six weeks, which the CFO then used in the board pack" is worth everything. This builds the document that gives them the second kind.

Common questions
Is it acceptable to give my recommender material?
Yes, and schools expect it. What is not acceptable is writing the letter for them. The brief gives them facts and examples; the judgement and the words stay theirs.
What if I have several recommenders?
Build one brief each, and give each of them different examples. Two letters describing the same project is a wasted recommendation.
Does anything leave my browser?
Only if you ask for it by email, and the form says so first.
